Welcome

KMSC is BACK!  We’re in the pool two nights a week at the Kailua District Park Pool with our coached team sets!  Here are the details:

Pool Workouts: Tuesday and Thursday (excluding holidays) at 7 PM
Coached Swim Workouts (Michelle Simmons and/or Chris Rawlings)
WHERE:  Kailua District Park Pool, Kailua, Hawaii 96734

2024 Monthly Dues = $50

2024 Monthly Dues = $50 Recurring

2024 Drop-In = $10

Unofficial Ocean Swims: Fridays at 6:30 AM   Meetup at Kailua Beach Boat Ramp. We pair up for safety to always make sure everyone gets back ok.  Don’t be shy about swimming with fins (many of our swimmers use them) and/or a swim buoy.  It is highly encouraged, particularly if they make you feel safer and more confident.  We swim in almost any conditions.

Please note that this open water swim is not an official KMSC session, The swim is an open invitation at your own risk.  The lifeguards are not on duty yet.  Again, we encourage you to wear fins as needed, as it helps keep everyone together.  It’s a beautiful, fun endurance swim effort.  And we always take a moment to admire all of the Hawaiian beauty from wherever our swim takes us in the ocean where only a few people ever venture.

To prepare, we need all of our current and new members to do the following things:

  1. Join US Masters Swimming at www.usms.org and select Kailua Masters Swim Club as your swim club.  Save your USMS membership number.  There is fee to join, but joining USMS is important and mandatory, as it provides the KMSC with our insurance coverage.
  2. Join KMSC. Show up for practice and sign a waiver and either pay the drop-in fee or monthly dues.
  3. If you have not already, get on our email list so that you can get all the updates on practices.

A note about Masters Swimming and our club:  We are an inclusive club and have a lane for nearly every level of swimming ability from 1:05 to 2:30+ p/100 yds.  However, this is a coached swim set and NOT swim lessons.  We welcome those new to group swim sessions and simply ask that you choose your lane conservatively and start out at the end of the pace line you choose. If you are new, please ask for help as Coach Michelle and the other board members will do all we can to help make you comfortable.  It’s also ok to watch the workout for a few minutes before jumping into the back of a pace line.  Swim fins (designed for pool workouts) are also highly encouraged for a number of reasons. Even the fastest swimmers train with fins!  If you can’t swim 100 yards continuously without stopping, several of the KMSC board members offer one on one coaching (not during this workout) to help with swim specific technique and fitness.
